Arctic Adventours - Custom Designed Programs 1996

It is an increasing interest in taking part in the process of planning for expedition-like trips. I personally love that, and have opened for this possibility. So if any target in the north are of special interest to you, do not hesitate to take contact and let us get into the planning.

«All the mind's activity is easy if it is
  not subjected to reality»
Marcel Proust, Remembrance of Things past.

«The time to enjoy an Arctic trip is about three
   weeks after unpacking»
G.Ade, The hungry man from the bird centre'.

Based on the experience that some previous 'Arctic Explorers' want to have a dacpao of a previous program, or that we on our way did find something that somebody want to give a closer look or show to some friends- we have made two periods that are free for such planning this year (1993). The period 28.04 - 11.05 and 24.05- 06.06 are the two peak season periods. Otherwise the boat are free for requested programs in October, a period that can (but not will) appear with the most stunning weather and Aurora Borealis. Like this year I was concluding the season on a single hand sailing from Lofoten to Bodø in mid October, with a slight breeze ( 10 sm.) and with the Aurora and a full moon guiding me safe into the harbour...... , after visiting a fjord where the killer whales are playing with the herring every autumn. (Between October - January /February, several tribes of Killer whales can be guaranteed in The Tysfjord area. The fjord is also protected from the south-west winds.)

But Autumn is a period for the persons who will take the risk on a little rougher conditions, I do not want You to join a product You will find different than the impressions of the information's given.

Every program indicated above, can also be made as a request, either as a shorter or a longer version than the original.

The prices for such programs are based on NOK 7.200,- pr. day, all included, for 8 persons. But if the project can be combined or need more than two weeks, we are open to discuss an override commission (for the extra weeks) and a complete price for the expedition.

If You have an idea, but cannot fill the boat alone, do not hesitate to take contact, though we might know others that have asked for similar projects!

Practical information

The ship carries survival suite, with floating elements, that are used as sailing equipment on cold days or colder areas. The need for equipment is thus reduced to, rain-gear and proper shoes, dockside sort of soles, with a good grip. Gloves and woollen-socks are also important, but are easily bought in Norway (at reasonable prices). No need for sleeping bag, unless the expedition plans land excursions including nights away from the boat (the ship carries tents and the common campgear). The ship is especially under sail giving minimal effects of seasickness. If you consider it to be a problem, Scopoderm is recommended, together with ordinary ginger (we can fill capsules onboard). We always carry a stock of both, just in case. The whole last season only gave one single sea-sick person for one afternoon, so it is not as big a problem as you might think.!
