Feb 15: OL: More And More Nancy Kerrigan

Previous - Next

Received from NTB at 05:05.

Hamar (NTB): Many people are now fed up with hearing the
history about the figure skater Nancy Kerrigan over and
over again. However, there is no reason to believe that
her name and her history will be forgotten after The
Olympics. In USA, companies are lining up interested in
selling the Kerrigan-case or to use her in their ads.

While she is preparing for the competitions in Hamar,
her agent Jerry Soloman tries to take care of the
business side of her life. He is not willing to exactly
confirm how much the contract with the Disney concern is
worth, but says the number is in the range from 4
million Nkr (~0.5M $) to 70 million Nkr (~10M $).

According to the US News Wire Associated Press, the
contract with Disney will be worth at least 15 million
Nkr (~2M $). Disney intends to use Kerrigan as the new
«SnowWhite». She will also appear in commercials,
videos, films, books for children in addition to giving
performances in Disney World.

- She would have became one of Americas most popular
Olympiers even if she had not been attacked in Detroit
before the games, her agent says. In The 1992 Olympics
in Albertville, Kerrigan returned with one bronze medal.

Movie star?

Soloman confirms that Kerrigan will participate in a
film about her life, but she will not play Nancy Kerrigan!
She will do skating shots only.

  - We have to do a film. We have had more than 50
requests for this. If we refuse everything, pirat
movies will appear, her agent says.

Even if Kerrigan doesn't win medals in Hamar, she will
soon be making good money out her skating and her
story. Her business lawyers will take care of just that,
settling the last details with the Disney company
these days. The last Olympic winner, Kristi Yamaguchi
has earned peanuts compared to what Kerrigan will do.

Remember - she is Disney's new SnowWhite.
